Menopause care shows up in primary care every day, yet many patients still receive inconsistent counseling and unnecessary barriers to treatment. This 1.5-hour course gives nurse practitioners a practical, evidence-informed framework for supporting patients through perimenopause and menopause. Topics include the value of menopause education, common myths about menopausal hormone therapy (HRT/MHT), and how HRT differs from hormonal contraception—including when contraception can be useful in perimenopause. Learners will also review the benefits and risks of systemic therapy and low-dose vaginal estrogen, with a clear focus on cardiovascular risk considerations, true contraindications vs. common “comfort-level” concerns, and when hormone laboratory testing helps (and when it doesn’t).
