Dengue Fever

29

A 28-year-old woman presents with a 5-day history of intermittent frontal headache with profound photophobia, fevers, nausea with rare vomiting, and 2–3 small-volume loose stools daily without cramping or visible blood. She denies cough, sore throat/pharyngitis symptoms, or close contacts with similar illness, and notes that her household members are all well. She has been using OTC antipyretics with partial relief. She was evaluated at a local walk-in center 24 hours ago (day 4 of illness), where urinalysis and rapid strep were reportedly normal, COVID-19 and influenza tests were negative, and she was told she likely had a viral syndrome and advised to rest, hydrate, and return if not improving.
