The Vegetable Grinder

0

A 37-year-old male with no significant medical history presents to the trauma bay after his left arm was drawn into a vegetable grinder. He was taken emergently to the OR, where a multidisciplinary team (trauma, plastic, and vascular surgery) performed surgical restoration of the left upper extremity. The left thumb was salvaged with intact perfusion; however, the remaining digits were unsalvageable. Future planning includes a toe-to-hand transplant to reconstruct the left 5th finger.
